How to Unzip Multiple Zip Files using Right-Click Drag and Drop

You just received an email from a colleague that includes multiple ZIP files. You need to extract all the files into a single folder. You are accustomed to clicking on the archive and extracting files into a folder using WinZip. When you try doing the same by selecting all the archives at the same time and hitting that ‘Extract to’ button, only the first archive’s files are extracted. With over 40 archives remaining, you know it will take a lot of time to extract data from each archive separately.

You can breathe easy thanks to a feature from WinZip that allows you to extract multiple archives simultaneously. Note that you need to have WinZip version 9 and above to achieve this objective.

With WinZip version 16.5 and above, you can extract from multiple ZIP, ZIPX, 7Z, CAB, ISO, IMG, LHA, LZH and RAR files.

You can unzip multiple files using WinZip’s drag and drop option.

  • From a folder, unzip all the files that you want to extract.
  • Now right click in the highlighted area and drag to the destination folder.
  • You can now let go of the right mouse button.
  • Select WinZip -> Extract to here.

In order to unzip multiple Zip files without using the drag and drop option,

  • In the folder, select all the WinZip files you want to extract.
  • Right-click on the highlighted area.
  • Select WinZip -> Extract to here.
  • Now enter the destination folder.
