How to Show Recycle Bin in File Explorer on Windows 10

Although Windows 10 has brought in more features and simplified matters, there are a few glitches. This has been a challenge for Windows 10 users. One such thing is the new feel it brings with it. For example, the Recycle Bin is not visible at first glance. It doesn’t mean that Recycle Bin is not present. But to access it you have to do certain things. Also, there are times when you have to restore files from Recycle Bin.

You don’t have to navigate here and there to locate the Recycle Bin on Windows 10. There are a few ways by which you can add Recycle Bin to File Explorer. They are – Editing the system registry and Show all folders way.

  • Editing system registry
  • Bring up the Run console on your Windows 10 system
  • In the Run dialog box, type exe or simply regedit and click OK
  • Once open, expand the first folder named HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
  • Select the CLSID entry and click on the label {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
  • In this folder select ShellFolder
  • On the right, in the space in the window, right-click to select New DWORD from the drop-down menu
  • Name it: IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree
  • Set the Value reading to 1

Now restart the system. When you click on File Explorer, you can see the Recycle Bin at the bottom. If in case you want to remove the Recycle Bin icon, then navigate to the new DWORD that you created and set the value to 0.

  • Show all folders

This method is simple compared to the first method.

  • In order to bring up the Recycle Bin, go to View – Navigation pane – Show all folders
  • Instantly, you can see some visible alterations in the sidebar layout
  • You can see links to Recycle Bin and Control Panel
  • You can either choose to leave it as it is or drag it to Favorites where you can access directly
